Water Garden Filters

Water Garden Filters

Water Filter

There are two main concerns regarding water quality in the lake. The first is a human appearance, we want our water is crystal clear. It is part of the beauty of a garden pond, especially if you add to the mix of fish. Fish do not worry about the clarity of water. What they are doing, interested, the second thing is: the ability to support fish and water plants. It's up to us (not the fish) to see that your garden is not so.

I will not detail the unpleasant facts of fishPlants and dirt - ha-emanations. Suffice it to say that the old joke "I do not drink the water - *** fish in it" has much truth to it. If the number of very nice fish, combined with the size of the pond, then you really do not need a filter system, although a source of moving water is always welcome. But if the fish grow, you must have both dropped out of school or thinly and add a filtering system.
Two types of filtration

Mechanical filtration removes 1unwelcome porous solids with traps such as brushes or sponges. This work, however, need to clean the filter, because they can get gunked up. It is not uncommon for a mechanical filter with a biological component, but the main method is to capture solid. Pond Skimmers are the most common method of mechanical filtration.

2 biological filtration to break the toxins excreted by bacteria using chemicals (ammonia) to nitrite. It looks terrible, but this is a healthy processoccurs naturally in water. In the small garden pond, we need to be kept a few concentrated bacteria feasting on fish and plants healthy and our water is clear. Organic host filter large colonies of friendly bacteria in materials such as a mat specially developed fiber. The bacteria need a steady flow of nutrients and water, so do not close the filter, unless you feel like your pond in a snowy winter weather. Note that feed on aquatic plants Nitrites, so if youPlants do not have to do some more water changes is to remove excess nitrite. A pond with a healthy balanced level of fish and plants need to be filled only small water changes, if any.

Algae - Good and Not-So-Good

Another thorny issue of water in the gardens are some types of algae. The velvety green algae covering the walls of the pond is actually an advantage. It serves as an excellent food source for fish and not turn your whole lakegreen. Unicellular and filamentous algae is not as useful, and your water is cloudy. UV sterilizers can be a good choice for single-cell algae, but not use it without the biological filter to give the dead algae. There are also other products to clean the algae, the laughter in front of the ultraviolet. As always, a natural pond balance your friend. Please do not feel that you plunge and buy equipment and chemicals every time that water is a bit 'confused.
